Artist Statement:

My recent work, especially my print work, is very much a response to the constant contact we have with each other and the world at large in contemporary life, and the alienation that tends to come with it. I have found that systems for digital social networking have given everyone in this country a space for their words, their individuality, but in doing so exaggerates the vast similarities between people everywhere. In essence, this freedom of expression seems in many ways a hindrance upon true individuality in the sense that being a unique individual has become, now more than perhaps ever before, strikingly status quo. Therefore my work reflects this ambiguity. The placement of solitary figures or shapes within typically stark and undefined settings is my attempt to demonstrate the struggle against this constant contact and perceived lack of identity. In many ways, it is my attempt to figure out my own place in this vastness and draw attention to the beauty of the individual as a unique entity.
